The Family Booklet
Who issues it?
|
- The registrar of the place of marriage, for those who contracted marriage after 08/01/1957.
- The registrar of the husband's place of birth, for those who contracted marriage before the publication of the civil status law.

Who is it delivered to?
|
- To the head of the family.
- To the divorced woman, if she hasn't remarried.
- To the widow who must keep it, unless otherwise decided by the courts.

Pieces Needed
|
- Photo of the head of the family.
- Marriage extract.
- Birth certificate of the spouse.
- Birth certificate from the rest of the family, in the case of a duplicate.
- Death certificate, in the event of delivery of the family book to the mother.
- Copy of the divorce decree, for the woman who has custody of the children.

Time limit
|
The family booklet is issued immediately, if the marriage was contracted at the town hall.
|
NB. "No person other than the duly authorized civil registrar is allowed to make any observation or mention on the family booklet. This is only issued to Tunisians."
The 1st Time Release
Conditions for obtaining the service
|
- The beneficiary must be of Tunisian nationality and married.
- The marriage contract must be concluded within the municipal perimeter either by the municipality itself or by notaries.
- The booklet is issued:
* To the head of the family
* To a divorced woman unless she is remarried
* To the widow unless the court decides otherwise.

Documents to provide
|
1. A photo of the head of the household (the husband).
2. A photo of the identity card of the head of the family.
3. An extract from the marriage certificate.
4. A birth certificate for each of the two spouses.
5. A birth certificate for each of the other family members in the event of delivery after the expiration of a certain period after marriage).
6. The receipt of payment of the fee due on the family record book.

Time limit
|
- Immediately upon the conclusion of the marriage contract by the registrar.
- Within one week in other cases.

In Case of Loss
Conditions for obtaining the service
|
- The beneficiary must be of Tunisian nationality and married.

* To the head of the family
* To a divorced woman unless she is remarried
* To the widow unless the court decides otherwise.

3. A copy of the identity card of the head of the family.
4. An extract from the marriage certificate.
5. A birth certificate for each of the two spouses.
6. A birth certificate from each of the other family members.

7 days from the date of submission of the application.

In Case of a Divorced Unmarried or Widowed Woman
Conditions for obtaining the service
|
- Divorced women who have not remarried must have child custody clearance
- Widowed women having the right to keep the booklet unless otherwise judged.

1. An extract from the widow's death certificate.
2. An expedition of the divorce decree for the divorced mother having custody of the children.
3. Birth certificate of each of the other family members
4. The receipt for payment of the fee due on the family record booklet.

Time limit
|
7 days from the date of submission of the application.
